Every rider in the Tour de France is a potential yellow jersey winner, thinks Mothership. Every starting rider has a chance to wear the yellow jersey. Almost 200 riders were portrayed on a yellow flag, together with their names and the colours of their national flag. Artist Thijs Kelder of Dstruct designed the portraits of all the participants of the 97th edition of the Tour de France, by commission of Le Grand Depart. Shipmate produced the flags. The yellow portrait-flags will be flying on the Boompjes, at the foot of the Eramsus bridge, until the 14th of July 2010. After the finish of the Tour de France in Paris, every rider was given his own flag to take home. The team leaders of the 22 teams signed their own flags, turning them into special collectors items which will be auctioned at a later date.
