This piece I created for Cafe De Bruine Pij, commissioned by Blind Walls Gallery. It’s a little different than what you’re used of Blind Walls. It’s not a painting but a 3D artwork consisting of wood and plexiglass.
The design is based on various stories about the pub and the Grote Kerk (church), Breda.
I have been inspired by stories from café “De Pij” and the opposite church, “Onze-Lieve-Vrouwenkerk”, better known as the Grote Kerk (Breda, NL). Every object in the work tells its own story.
Various images refer to the biker and blues past of café De Bruine Pij, but the work also tells you why you can grab free peanuts in the pub for example. The Grote Kerk is also well represented. There are stories to discover about, for example, a bleeding wafer and a mummified cat.
